Greenville SC Wedding PhotographyGene Taylor

I’ve got more than 30 years of experience as an award-winning photographer, starting out as a full time newspaper photographer.

I got my first camera when I was eight and photographed my first presidential candidate when I was 12, my first up-close rock band when I was 13, my first wedding in high school (something I do not recommend for aspiring photographers or cost-conscience brides!)

I won numerous photography contests in high school and college, but my biggest honor was being chosen to study with Ansel Adams at his home in Carmel, California. To my regret, I couldn’t get away from my day job and I planned to do it the following year, but he passed away.

Some photographers are only self taught.  I am a photography instructor and I have been trained by some of the leading photographers in America, including Monete Zucker, Michael Greco, Joel Grimes, Bob Davis, David Ziser, Joe McNally, Michael Ray, and Mike Colon. I invest thousands in education every year, making me one of the most highly trained photographers in the area. I’m continually learning on my own as well. I love my job. I eat, sleep, and breathe photography.

My photography area includes Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Asheville and all of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. I travel for destination weddings too.  In the past few years I’ve gone as far as Cleveland, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles for photo shoots.

Professional affiliations include Professional Photographers of America, Upstate Bridal Association and National Association of Photoshop Professionals.

Being a former photojournalist I tend to do directing or posing in wedding assignments only when it is needed. I like to let moments unfold naturally in true documentary style. I capture what transpires and the result is a collection of poignant, unique images of your Wedding Day.  I am trained in posing and lighting… so if the situation called for it, I can get the classic posed shots and make you look your best. For other projects, like food, architecture, and products, I have to take control of the situation and my background in composition and lighting is essential to get a great photograph.
